I was appointed Executive Director of the nonprofit Nebraska Writers Collective in October, 2009. NWC aims to teach creative writing and poetry at schools throughout the Midwest and is best known for its Poets On Loan program. Check out their website at www.newriters.org.
The NWC has Poets On Loan pilot programs active in 4 Nebraska and Iowa high schools and one middle school. The program sends in pairs of poets to classrooms to energize students about poetry and help teachers. They go in several times each semester and help work on either a publication or a public reading.
